Apologies for cross posting

I do hope I'm in the right group.

On start up I get a dialogue box headed Windows No Disk and in the body of

the box it states :

Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf9c 4 75b6bf9c

75b6bf9c

This happens at about the same time as AVG 7.5 free edition launches to do

an automatic update on start up.

Could I ask if anyone has any idea as to what this problem is, and hopefully

,how I can correct it.

Many thanks indeed.

You didn't crosspost, which would have been all right. You multiposted

which is not A Good Thing. Here is a link explaining the difference:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crossposting

You have answers in the other newsgroup to which you posted. If you have

forgotten where you posted or can't find your post, use Google Groups

Advanced Search and search for your name.

Cross-posting would have been fine, but you did *not* cross-post, you

multi-posted.

Please do not send the same message separately to more than one

newsgroup (called multiposting). Doing so just fragments the thread,

so someone who answers in one newsgroup doesn't get to see answers

from others in another newsgroup. And for those who read all the

newsgroups the message is multiposted to, they see the message

multiple times instead of once (they would see it only once if you

correctly crossposted instead). This wastes everyone's time, and gets

you poorer help than you should get.

If you must send the same message to more than one newsgroup, please

do so by crossposting (but only to a *few* related newsgroups).

Please see "What is the accepted way to share a message across

multiple newsgroups?" at http://smjg.port5.com/faqs/usenet/xpost.html

Thank you, Ken for this explanation to a 75 year old inexperienced poster.

I think it's the first time I've ever "multi-posted" and I wasn't aware of

the difference. Your explanation is much more acceptable to me than the

previous one which felt like an admonishment without knowing the facts. I

genuinely thought my original post was in the wrong group and there had been

no answers when I posted elsewhere.

Thank you for your help.

You're welcome, from an almost 70-year-old very experienced poster.

Glad to help.

There's an occasional exception, but very few people here want to

admonish anyone, for this or anything else. But sometimes we will post

things matter-of-factly, and not take the extra time to convey

politeness. That doesn't mean the poster is trying to be rude or to

admonish. I try to be as polite as possible, but I know there are

times when my tone has been misunderstood, and I've inadvertently

offended someone.

That of course is the situation where you hadn't planned in advance to

multi-post. Of course if that happens and you want to post again to a

different group, you have no choice but to multi-post. But it's

probably a good idea to begin your post with something like

"Forgive me for multiposting. I posted this in xxxxxxxx yesterday, and

got no answers, so I thought I would try again here, which might be a

better group for my question."
