hello.

when I start my computer it works fine for about 3 minutes and then freezes, doesn't matter if I open programs or not. When I start in safe mode, it works fine, no crashing or freezing at all. I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop. Its about 3 weeks old. i am using vista home premium.

Hi

Welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help.

Have you made any software or hardware changes recently?

Try the following in safe mode:

  • Go to Start then Run
  • type msconfig and press enter
  • Click on the startup tab and uncheck everything except your security software and jusched
  • Restart the computer.

Does it still freeze?

How much memory do have in there reibs?

That figure you quoted Reibs is available hard disk space, what we need to know is how much RAM you have.

Go into Control Panel and double left click the System icon. it will list how much memory you have there under Memory (RAM)

Do you possess Service Pack 1 for Vista, again it will tell you in system if you do?

With a laptop 3 weeks old I'm presuming you do but check anyway.

Hi

If you have more than one stick of RAM, take out the other and try with only one.

Sorry i forgot this is a laptop and that is not easy if you dont know what to do.

You can try system restore to a date when the computer was working normally:

Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore
