Making my own START Menu

Recommended Posts

You know when you click START>PROGRAMS, you get a list of all the

programs that are on your computer. Then if you move the mouse over one

of the folders, like MICROSOFT, you'll see WORD, OUTLOOK, ACCESS etc....

Is there a way for me to create my own menus like that. I want to click

START, and them have a folder that has ADOBE,MICROSOFT, SYMANTEC,

ETC.... so that when I want to run one of those programs, I don't have

to do a lot of searching. There should be a way for me to do that

easily, right?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes. Go to

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users|Start Menu\Programs

Create a new folder there, and call it by whatever name you want to

appear on Start | Programs. Then put shortcuts to whatever programs

you want within it. You can can also put subfolders in it and put the

shortcuts in the subfolders.

Sure - just create one of the following folders and populate it with your

items:

c:\documents and settings\all users\start menu\chaz or

c:\documents and settings\all users\chaz\chaz

(if your logon account is "chaz").

Go to Start right click and choose "explore". Drap, drop create folder how

you like.

If you want the menus to apply to all users, choose "explore all users".

Great! That worked perfectly!

I know I'm pressing my luck, but is there any way to get this to show up

on the start menu, right above the programs I use the most?

Thanks again!

Select and hold down left mouse button on the link you want and just drag

the folder/program there.

Like "Right-click, click Pin to Start Menu.".. No, that won't work.

You could place the folder on the Taskbar as a toolbar.. Right-click

the Taskbar, click Toolbars, New Toolbar, browse to the folder.
