Guest metremeter@yahoo.co.uk Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Hi! Given a particular name, is there a simple way of determining by what means Windows XP resolved that name into a network address? That is, if I type in a name and Windows resolves that to an IP address, how do I know if it resolved the name via the DNS cache, a DNS server, WINS cache, WINS server or the hosts file? While I'm asking, is there also a trivial way to find out which interface packets aimed at a given IP address will be sent to (without having to figure it out oneself, obviously)? Cheers, mm
