Dalo Harkin Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 AMD has been faltering for quite a while now, and though recently the Radeon HD series has made a bit of a bang, times have still been tough. The purchase of ATI set them back seriously in financial terms, and the continued losses to Intel in the CPU market hasn't been any help. As a result, the CEO of AMD has opted to “take responsibility” for the decline of the tech giant and is stepping down. Guest Wolfeymole Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 But he's not actually leaving though is he? Extract from Daily Tech "Today, AMD CEO Hector Ruiz stepped down from his position with the company. Ruiz joined the company in January 2000 and became CEO in April 2002. Ruiz will be replaced by the current Number 2 in charge, Dirk Meyer. Ruiz will stay on as the executive chairman of AMD's Board of Directors." They are just shuffling the pack and saying let's see what Meyer can do. I doubt Ruiz will be working now for an Egg sandwich and his bus fare home do you? Quote
Dalo Harkin Posted July 18, 2008 Author Posted July 18, 2008 Hmm - sounds very 'hush, hush' to me, he may well stay on the board of directors, but how much input will he be giving ;) as for the egg sandwich and bus fair - lol, more like caviar and bentleys ;) Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
