Guest gulfstreme@gmail.com Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 I plugged in a USB CompactFlash card reader and it didn't install correctly. I later found that the card was not completely inserted in the reader and I believe that caused the reader to not install correctly. I then inserted the card completely into the reader and tried to get it to be recognized and automatically installed in XP. No dice. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the USB Controller and Hub. Nothing has worked, I even did a repair install of the OS. I KNOW the USB port and reader hardware work because it worked fine when I booted into an Ubuntu LiveCD on the same machine... it must be an XP software problem. Is there somewhere in the registry I can delete the keys pertaining to the botched install of the USB CF card reader and get it to install correctly?

There is an article in Help & Support which discusses fixing these two items. Jim
