Guest thegull Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 I've been experiencing this problem for a while now- whenever I need to restart windows or simply boot up, windows takes anywhere between 3 to 8 minutes to boot up. It hangs for almost the whole time at the windows splash screen. I have tried sos and nogfx boot modes but it hasn't helped me determine the source of the problem. Any solution would be greatly welcomed since it makes it extremely inconvient to restart or simply shut my computer down.
Guest Albin Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 RE: Windows Hangs on Splash Screen at boot up Check your HDD go to command prompt (using boot CD ) chkdsk /r Good luck "thegull" wrote: > I've been experiencing this problem for a while now- whenever I need to > restart windows or simply boot up, windows takes anywhere between 3 to 8 > minutes to boot up. Guest thegull Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 RE: Windows Hangs on Splash Screen at boot up I've run a chkdsk recently, what will a /r from the boot command do for me that a normal one wont? I'm planning on a full reformat soon (once I get all my stuff backed up and find the program disks) but I wanted to make sure this wasn't a hardware issue.
