maynardvdm Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I just uninstalled my Live Messenger and followed this link: Windows Live Messenger and it is working nicely. Dunnsdale Posted July 24, 2008 Author Posted July 24, 2008 Post moved Hi guys......My post was moved yesterday(my first). As such probably reads a bit strange.I'd tagged onto another thread where the guy had the same problem I was experiencing. Here was the problem:- Okay I have XP home OS I usually use MSN Explorer to do everything on the internet. I had MSN messenger and then downloaded the Live messenger. Now the problem. If I download Live Messenger I can never get into MSN Explorer until I totally delete Live Messenger. When I try and log in I always get: Messenger Is Not Installed MSN Messenger Service is not installed on this machine. It is a critical part of MSN Explorer and must be repaired before you can use MSN Explorer again. We'd like to repqir it for you now. I will then click the "Repair MSN now" button and I always get: MSN Explorer Error Reporting. Sorry to cause any confusion. Quote
Dalo Harkin Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 It sounds like messenger is still on your system and not being deleted properly - use add/remove programs and then navigate to C:/program files/windows messenger and delete that whole file - restart and try to reinstall messenger and see how it goes. *The post was moved as you are a different member* we do this so one thread is not a million pages long - as it would be if everyone tagged onto it Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
RandyL Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Hi Dunnsdale; If I remember right I think I know the problem. MSN Messenger is indeed part of MSN Explorer. You cannot remove it and and still have MSN Explorer work. When you install Live Messenger it replaces MSN Messenger. Thus MSN Explorer is broke. There are very few people left who still use MSN Explorer and I think it's best if you move on too. It was a failure from the start and Microsoft figured that out fast. I suggest just moving on and forget it. Use IE7 or FireFox. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. Dunnsdale Posted July 24, 2008 Author Posted July 24, 2008 Thanks for the advice guys.I'm kinda trying to head that way, hence another thread I've started this morning about my shared user. Can I import my favourites from msn explorer over to IE? Quote
RandyL Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 A question well asked. I can't say for sure. When in explorer click file then export. If you can export the same way as it can be done in IE then save it to a file. Open IE and do the same with import and import the file. Quote We are all members helping other members.
