Guest Ron Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Trying to upgrade our Windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP1 to SP2. Keep receiving this message "e:\546..|I386\update\update.inf file is not correct" and the update fails. I'm doing this from the CD that MS sent me. I was able to successfully update to SP2 on 3 other servers. It automatically picks the E drive and doesnt' allow me to choose another drive. Also this is our exchange server with Exchange 2003 SP2. I've made sure that my inf file has full permissions for the user I'm logged on as. What else could be causing this problem. Judging from Google this seems to be a big issue without too many solutions.
Guest Meinolf Weber (Myweb) Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Re: Windows Server 2003 SP2 Upgrade Failure Hello Ron, Try copying the SP2 to the disk first. Seems like a read failure from your disk drive. Guest Ron Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 Re: Windows Server 2003 SP2 Upgrade Failure I'm afraid that didn't work either. Guest Ron Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Re: Windows Server 2003 SP2 Upgrade Failure I'm afraid this didn't work either. I tried with both the domain administrator and the local admin accounts and had the same results. Guest coka Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Re: Windows Server 2003 SP2 Upgrade Failure Make sure that you have not redirected the "programfilesdir" from drive C. If yes, redirect it back to C drive, apply SP2, and then redirect it again. It worked fro me Coka -- coka ------------------------------------------------------------------------ coka's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=33007 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=801078 http://forums.techarena.in
Guest John Hull Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Re: Windows Server 2003 SP2 Upgrade Failure How do I do that? I've been having the same problem as Ron. I'd appreciate any advice.
