Guest diane in seattle Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Re: Default Email Client I use Gmail & love it. I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser. So I don't use any Microsoft products for either of these tasks. It used to be, when I was brows- ing, if I clicked on a mailto link, a new tab would open with a blank Gmail compose box, & I'd type in that & send it off. A while back, when I did this, nothing happened for about 15 seconds. Then suddenly, 58 Internet Explorer blank windows would pop up & cascade all over my screen. It doesn't happen on every web- site; in fact, I think it only happens when I try to reply to a Craigslist ad. When I've tried to set up Gmail as my client in the control panel, it is not there. Nor is it there when I try to configure IE's internet options. Seems to me this trouble would stop if I could tell WinXP that I'm using Gmail & no other email program. This thread was the closest one I could find to the problem. I do get a message to the effect that the default mail client is not installed. Can you help? diane in seattle
