I am planning on building my own PC and would like someone to very kindly clarify some tech details for me:

I have been told the DDR-SDRAM speed needs to match the CPU fsb speed, and this needs to match the motherboard speed capability. However, I have aread the following are compatible;

1) 2x2gb DDR2 PC-6400 at 1066MHz

2) Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 at 1066MHz

3) Asus Striker Extreme nForce 680 (socket 775) PCI-E DDR2 motherboard at 1333MHz

Are these compatible? or does the motherboard have to be 1066MHz?

Thanks.

The RAM does not have to match the CPU speed -

The problem with putting a 1066Mhz CPU into a 1333Mhz MOBO - means you are not using the potential of the MOBO - 1333Mhz chips are just as cheap as 1066Mhz - don't go back in technology - I would however HIGHLY recommend you get a 1333Mhz MOBO that supports DDR2 as DDR3 is still very expensive.

Also most 1066Mhz MOBO's support 1333Mhz CPU's with a BIOS update

Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)

Asus P5K premium black pearl

4GB OCZ Reaper 8500
