Guest - Bobb - Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Normally on this PC if I check IE6 - properties- " Temporary Internet Files settings" it shows the Temporary Internet Files folder as being: C:\Documents and Settings\Bill\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files OCCASIONALLY, when I check it, it shows as it does right now : ( OLD designation): "C:\Docume~\Bill\LocalS~\Te Internet Files " ( I wrapped text 'cuz that's how it looks) If I click 'View files' it shows full path in Explorer, but why a '~' on Settings page ? I noticed it today and it was AFTER Norton Antivirus had updated ( at boot time). It took the system a few minutes to 'get going' (I've noticed that when NAV updates at boot time) and some icons never did appear in systray. I logged off and on ( not reboot) and systray icons then appeared as normal, but still shows "C:\Docume~\Bill\LocalS~\Te Internet Files " Maybe coincidence ? or MAYBE the reason ? Anyone else notice this occasionally on XP SP2 with all updates ? Why sometimes one way and sometimes another ? I only check it every few months, but will note if NAV-update-related next time. I'm gonna reboot, but if OK ,I'm still not sure if related to NAV or some other reason. Anyone else ?
