I have windows Vista home basic which I use on my Dell with 512 memory and tiscali 1 meg broadband

What a disappointing time I have!!

Cant browse the net now due to the error messages I put in the header.

Any tips anyone?

Also get EVERY error message no dial tone, plug cable into local area connection etc etc as frequently tiscali logs me out. Any tips?

PC world say I need more memory for Vista? Do I?

Happy to donate if you can help!!!!!

Vista minimum requirement is 512MB but 1GB is preferred and 2GB is recommended (by myself anyway)

Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)

Asus P5K premium black pearl

4GB OCZ Reaper 8500

On this very rare occasion I have to agree with PC World k70anj, as Dalo said you have to get that memory up to at least 2GB.

It also sounds like you could have a faulty modem, have you rang Tiscali about this?

By the way welcome to FPCH :)

Thanks

Thank you Dalo, will take it to pc world or local PC shop and get more memory installed.

Much appreciate your comments

Before you even think about taking it to PC World please allow Dalo to ask about your system specifications.

Thanks Wolfie

I avoid calling Tiscali at all costs, as it involves a LONG premium rate call to India ( You have to repeat everything you say )

However I think I will try to contact them via their website and request a new modem be sent free of charge otherwise I will change provider

Thanks again

Also can you tell us what those programs in your post title are for please, did you install some kind of software?

Installing memory is the easiest thing to do in terms of PC Building - PC World will charge you around £40 to put it in - we can show you how to do it for nothing, well obviously the price of the memory.

please list the motherboard that you have and I will recommend some RAM for you

System specs are Windows Vista basic 512 memory tiscali 1 meg broadband. Dell Dimension C521 I think

Any other details you need?

Take your pick from here Scan Computers UK: Computer Hardware - All - Memory but I would recommend the Corsair 2GB set.

and it costs less than PC World would charge you just to fit it. ;)

This is from the Dell website in terms of fitting memory Documentation
