My parents computer will not start up. It gets past the windows loading up screen then goes straight to a blue screen with the following stop error code:

stop: 0x00000024 (0x8711E268, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)

Additionally, this is as far as loading up Windows it gets. Please could someone point me in the right direction in trying to resolve this issue. They are operating on Windows XP Home Ed..

Thanks.

Ok found this Problems with Error Code 0x00000024?

You may have to go into safe mode to do this - when the PC boots there will be a black screen at the bottom it will tell you how to enter SAFE MODE it's normally F8 or F12

Yeah that didn't work. My parents decided to flatten the computer instead, against my protestations!!

Thanks anyway.

p.s. do you know anything you can do to keep your registry in good order without having to purchase RegCure?

Don't download trash, check a program out before downloading, get ratings, opinions on software etc.

I do not possess and never have possessed a registry cleaner in all the time that I have been on the net apart from one recommended by a friend.

It did nothing for me.

Keep your house in order and just be wise when surfing.

best way to keep your registry in good order.is to not install software that you are not going to use,

uninstalling software always leave redundant registry entries lurking about...

unless you know your way around the registry i wouldnt attempt to manually clean it up.

keep back ups of your registrys also.burn them to cd..you never know when you may need a key, or a whole string...trust me voice of experience....lol to much tinkering.

There are some fantastic reg cleaners - they serve a purpose.

BUT they can cause some serious problems -

it's a personal choice BUT most users should not need one.
