Guest Michael Q Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 I have two internal hard drives in my computer - one a WD and the other a Samsung. I was having problems with the WD master drive, which required a repair of XP SP2, but instead I mistakenly installed XP SP2 on the Samsung (slave) drive. In order to fix the WD master I disconnected the Samsung from inside the case and have now resolved the problem with the WD master drive and it is working fine. However when I connect the Samsung with its copy of XP (installed by mistake) the machine boots up on it and not the WD. How can I remove XP from the Samsung and boot up on the WD? There is no data on the Samsung that cannot be replaced. -- Michael Q
Guest Andrew E. Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 RE: Format Hard drive Actually you could set wdc as 1st boot device priority in the BIOS,this would boot to wdc xp,then format samsung in xp.Or,boot to xp cd,recovery, press enter for password, select either hd to enter on,then type:DiskPart In DiskPart, delete the partition on samsung, create one, press ESC key, either type:EXIT Or, FORMAT D: /FS:NTFS D: being samsung....Still chk the BIOS for boot priority.. Guest Michael Q Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 RE: Format Hard drive Thank you for your prompt reply. I will need to research how to change the 1st boot priority in the Bios. Unless someone can point me to a set of instructions. -- Michael Q "Andrew E." wrote: > Actually you could set wdc as 1st boot device priority in the BIOS,this would > boot to wdc xp,then format samsung in xp.Or,boot to xp cd,recovery, press > enter > for password, select either hd to enter on,then type:DiskPart In > DiskPart, delete > the partition on samsung, create one, press ESC key, either type:EXIT Or, > FORMAT D: /FS:NTFS D: being samsung....Still chk the BIOS for boot > priority.. > > "Michael Q" wrote: > > > I have two internal hard drives in my computer - one a WD and the other a > > Samsung. Guest Michael Q Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 RE: Format Hard drive After a little research I was able to learn how to change the boot priority in the Bios and was able to change it. I am sure the re-format will be easy after this. -- Michael Q "Michael Q" wrote: > Thank you for your prompt reply. I will need to research how to change the > 1st boot priority in the Bios.
