Media Player Version 11.2304.2.0: when launching one file from Explorer you cannot move to the next file in the system

I'm using Media Player Version 11.2304.2.0 in Windows 11. When I open a file the Next button (>|) is disabled, preventing me from moving to the next file: I have to exit what I am watching and choose to open another file. The Previous button (|<) is enabled, but it replays the current file, not move to the previous in the file system,I suspect this is by design but if it is it limits the user. Before Microsoft pointing users to Media Player instead of Movies and TV I was able to do this with the latter. If there is some way to set this please advise how: there is not a setting to do this
