Hi Lilweed

Welcome to FPCH

Does this laptop even attempt to boot up at all?

It sounds totally knackered to me.

This is a long shot but have you tried adjusting the screen brightness at all?

Hi

You need to press Fn + F6 or Fn + F5 to switch between screens.

Tell us if that works or not.

There are 'hot keys' for laptops to recognise an external monitor - it's usually - FN (Function ;)) and one of the F keys
