Server 2003 Enterprise Licence Issues

Hi Guys

Not sure whether this kind of thing is adddressed in this group or maybe

I could be directed to a better one.

Here is what I wanted

Server 2003 Enterprise Edition 64bit

From this I wanted to run virtual servers which the MS web pages say

you can do included in your Enterprise Edition licence.

Now, I bought the (hardware) server and the reseller sold me a copy of

Enterprise OEM which only came with 64bit media and licence key. He did

know I wanted it to run virtual servers at the time of placing the

order. He's a gold partner.

Now when I have installed it and wanted to set up the virtual servers he

claims that afterall Microsoft won't allow the 4 included virtual

servers to be with the OEM version and I need to upgrade to a volume

licence key (he's willing to do this for the cost difference between the

two products - so he is taking the loss here)

Now my questions are.

Is this the case? Nowhere can I see on the MS virtual server web pages

that the 4 free VS licences with Enterprise edition are not included in

the OEM version.

When I install the VS I need 32bit media and associated licence keys -

assuming I can run the OEM version and get my free VS installs where can

I get the media and keys from (legally that is).

Many hours have been spent on this with my reseller chasing MS, and I've

spent 2 days installing the thing and don't really want to start again

with new media and have to charge my client (or not).

Sorry about the length of post, I didn't want to leave anything out.

Regards

Martin

hello,

you may call Microsoft Yourself. Your vendor & yourself may have opposite

interest (he may be interested in pushed a more expensive license in doubt).

OEM licences are much specific
