im having a lot of problems with m laptop, i got a mate to check it over cause it kept crashing, ever since then it wont even start up it gets 3 secs into loading up and just stops what it was doing a sticks to a black screen,

 

i know this is a very short discrpetion of whats happeneing but i cant really say much more apart from that, anyone got a clue where to start with fixing it?

Is the system getting past the bios screen and starting to load XP?

 

Tap F8 as soon as you turn on the computer. At the boot menu, use the arrow keys and press enter when you reach "Last Known Good Configuration". If that doesn't work, try Safe Mode, followed by Enable VGA mode (if it's in the list).

 

If the system is not even starting to load XP, then the laptop has a hardware problem.

Do you even see all the white writing on the black background when the PC is turned on???

and there should be options for going into the BIOS its normally delete or one of the F keys.
