Guest Tony De Shiro Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 I close the application after reading emails. When I attempt to shut the computer down I get the "End Program" box which identifies "Outlook.EXE" as not shutting down. I have to hit the "End Task" button to close Outlook, then the computer will shut down. There have been occasions when the "End Task" button hasn't worked and I have to manually shut the computer down by pressing and holding the power button. I'm running XP Home Edition SP2. Suggestions? Thanks/Tony

Guest Tony De Shiro Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Re: MS Outlook 2002 SP3 not shutting down David, Thanks for the direction, it was very informative. I couldn't find the solution in the reference you provided, however I discovered the fix while reviewing Oulook tools options. I appears that you can't simultaneously run Windows Instant Messaging and AIM (an AOL product). Because we use AIM almost exclusively, I went into Outloodk Tools/Options/Other, and turned off Windows IM. The problem hasn't reoccurred. Regards/ Tony D.
