Set all directories a specific parent directory to default to thumbnail view

Is there any way to set all directories under a certain parent

directory to default to thumbnail view, without going through each

folder individually and changing its setting, and also without

changing the default view for *all* folders everywhere? In other

words, I want to recursively set default view properties starting at

one parent directory.

When you customize a folder, there an option right there to apply this

to all subfolders.. I haven't tried it yet, but it reads like it should

work.

Right-click the folder, click Properties, Customize tab, "Also apply

this template to all subfolders".

Some unique folders, with special icons, won't give these options.

This is almost what I'm looking for. It doesn't appear that the

"customize" options (which provides several preset folder types, e.g.,

music, photo album) correspond exactly with the "folder options." But

if I set the folder to type "pictures," it does change it to

thumbnails. The changes don't seem to propagate recursively, though,

even if you check the "subfolders" checkbox. Instead, they are applied

only to one level of subfolders, not to subfolders of subfolders. I

would like to find some way to avoid setting the folder type on

several hundred subfolders manually.

There might be a program that will allow you to change folder views en

mass, but I couldn't find one.
