Guest Steve Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 My desktop XP Pro machine is connected to the internet wirelessly (Netgear WG111v2) via my Linksys router. It is getting an IP through DHCP. I have another laptop XP Pro machine connected to the internet directly to the Linksys router via DHCP. Both can access the internet. Strangely, my laptop can ping my desktop. But my desktop cannot ping my laptop, or any other device on the router (I have another older machine on it). I would appreciate any help. Guest Rohit Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 RE: Strange XP Networking Problem Hi, I think the problem lies in the node type.. If you notice the Desktop has a node type as unknown and laptop has node type as broadcast. I have included an article to make the node to broadcast on the desktop, please check. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;160177 Thank you "Steve" wrote: > My desktop XP Pro machine is connected to the internet wirelessly > (Netgear WG111v2) via my Linksys router.
