lost images on icons

I had a bad shut down and when I came back up, most of the icons have lost

their images. I tried a couple of the fixes I saw in earlier posts, but

nothing seems to help. I had high hopes for dougknox's regedit, but still

nothing.

Is there anything anyone else can think of?

Thanks,

Dennis

As near as I can tell, Doug Knox doesn't have a registry edit fix for

your issue, but instead suggests this:

or try:

* at a command prompt, change to the %SystemRoot% folder

* remove the hidden attribute from the file:

type attrib -h shelliconcache and press ENTER.

* delete the file:

type del shelliconcache and press ENTER.

* logoff and backon and the default icons should be restored.
