I have a Toshiba Laptop with Windows XP and the Hard Drive went bad, so i had

a new hard drive instaled by the Geek Squad about half a year ago. Thay did

not use the Restore Disk that came with the Laptop and it has never been

opened, so will this Restore Disk still work with my Laptop or not.

RE: Restore Disk

Hard to say, you might have a restore partition and they used that, you

should have asked the guy.

I hope that the regulars here appreciate how bad it hurts for me to

bite my tongue on this one.

Re: Restore Disk

NEVER use Geek Squad! Never trust your machine to ANYONE who doesn't

carefully go over everything they are going to do with you (and even if Geek

Squad seems to do that, don't trust them.).

Question: If the machine now runs after replacing the drive, and the Restore

CD you have has never been opened, where did the GS get the installation? Or

did they manage to clone the old drive to the new? If the latter, it should

also still contain any Restore Partition, The CD should work just fine.

Can't tell you any more without more info. You should go to the machine's

manufacturer's website and check into the manual to see if you can determine

exactly how a Restore is accomplished. You can also use Disk Management or

some other partition tool to see if there is a hidden, un-lettered partition

that looks about the right size. Around a GB, I would guess.
