Right click the start Button and select properties, then under Start Menu click on Custom button then click on Advanced Tab and make sure the check box for Enable dragging and dropping is selected. Also right click your desktop >> Arrange Icons >> Make sure the Lock web items on desktop is unchecked and Show Desktop icons is selected. HTH. nass ---- http://www.nasstec.co.uk
Guest ayfy Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 RE: Desktop Icons: cannot drag and drop to specific location All my settings were as "nass" suggested. My first description of the problem is not accurate. What I should write is this: I can drag and drop, but the desktop icon will not stay in the desired spot on the desktop, it goes back to the original location. Is it a problem in the registry values? Does anybody have any other suggestion? "nass" wrote: > > > "ayfy" wrote: > > > I cannot drag the desktop icon to desired location on my notebook. Guest ayfy Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Re: Desktop Icons: cannot drag and drop to specific location Thank you Elmo. The Kelly's korner tweaks you suggested did not work. I did a system restore to an earlier date and after that I was able to drag the icons to the desired spots on the desktop and the icons stayed put. The registry must have been disturbed somehow, perhaps when auto updates of software take place to upset the desktop workings. The problem has nothing to do with menu selection for icon arragement, Auto Arrange etc. "Elmo" wrote: > ayfy wrote: > > All my settings were as "nass" suggested.
