Can't Print in Excel

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi All,

I have a TS that is Windows 2K with Office 2003 on it. The client has

Windows XP and connects via RDP.

She can print to all apps except Excel. Word is ok..Outlook, Adobe

etc...just not Excel.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Re: Can't Print in Excel

Can you elaborate on "can't print"?

Is the printer not visible at all from within Excel?

Does the user get an error message?

Is the document send to the spooler?

Any errors in the EventLog?

Is this a redirected printer? If so, did you install a 3rd party

printer driver for it on the server?

Re: Can't Print in Excel

The printer is visible in Excel.

No error message...job goes in and out of the print queue.

No errors in event log.

The driver is installed on the server.

It prints fine in all other applications, except excel. It looks like

it acts normal in excel i.e. no errors...sees printer, jobs go in and

out of queue...but nothing ever prints.

Thanks.

Re: Can't Print in Excel

I would start by uninstalling the 3rd party printer driver

completely and instead mapping the printer to a native driver.

This kind of irratic behaviour is rather common for a printer

driver which is not TS compatible.

Details here (apply to 2003 as well):
