Guest meme3160 Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Everytime when I go to do "Windows Update" I am told the installation etc has failed. Why is this and how can i fix it? Start the Background Intellegent Transfer Service (BITS). Then try Windows Update again. There can be a lot of troubleshooting techniques for that, but the most basic one I can give you right here: Try *temporarily* disabling your anti-virus or anti-malware programs, then downloading. Probably 50% of the time, that's what the problem is. IOW, there's no guarantee that will work, but there is a decent chance it will. I then tried to do an "Update" again but all 23 downloads failed. Those two things, BITS and trusted sites, did the trick for me.
