PC is failing to log on windows

Hey i was wondering if anyone could please help me, my pc froze and when i restarted it it gave me the options of logging into safe mode or going back to a point where my pc last worked fine etc..

whichever option i choose it starts to load up windows but just keeps on loading without going on :confused: i havent had "the blue screen of death" am clueless as to what the problem is :(

 

any imformation would be very welcomed thanx:D

select the option - reset/use optimised defaults and then SAVE and EXIT

Right seems like you have a bit more of an issue - can you get into safe mode - thats when you keep pressing F8 I think it is when you turn the pc on Edited August 10, 2008 by Dalo Harkin

ive clicked the F8 key an it brought up some more options like Debugging mode,vga mode ?

I did try going on safe mode and it borught up alot of writing but stays that way and doesnt actually load onto windows :/

- what exactly does it do when it wont go to windows - have you let it run for say 5 minutes and see what happens

It just shows like its loading onto window but doesnt and after leaving it 2-3 min the comp just restarts itself

Try booting to Safe mode again and write down the last line that is on the screen and post it here.

sounds like because it has restarted while still being in wondows then it has affected the OS - we are all aware this can happen but it is very rare when it does happen - you may be looking at a repair or reinstall of your OS.

but we will exhaust all other possibilities first.

tried it in safe mode again the last line is

 

multi(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\Mup.sys

 

comp was totally fine before the crash,just this time wen it froze and i restarted it somethings gone wrong =/

If Dalo's suggestion doesn't work, then please follow the instructions in the below article and see if they help or not.

 

Windows XP logon screen does not appear and the computer continuously restarts

Thanks alot for all ur help and suggestions am gona give this info a whirl and see what happens failing that am glad i have it insured lol

No problem, and if none of the fixes work then you will have to do a fresh install of XP rather than a repair - one of the 2 suggestions offered should fix the problem - as they are both linked in terms of the problem you describe.
