Why won’t my 28 digit recovery code allow alpha characters?

My computer was installed with Windows 10 Pro from the factory. I upgraded to Windows 11 2 months ago and printed out the recovery code provided to me. I reset my password on my account and decided I wanted to bypass logging on at the startup screen. I followed the steps but I understand that process would be creating a local account. When I started up my computer the next day, it would not take my password. EVERYTHING went downhill from there. When prompted to enter my recovery key, the field will not accept alpha digits. My key code is a combination of 28 alpha, numerical and other cha
