llewitha Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Hi folks, I am experiencing problems installing a network card into my daughters laptop. The Laptop is a Hi Grade Notino 3400 running Windows ME the card is a Belkin Wireless G Notebook network card. I chose this card as it says that it is compatible with Windows ME. I have followed the installation instructions installing the software first then installing the card at the prompt to do so. The Laptop then needs a restart to complete. When restarting a message comes up saying that the Belkin network card is not installed properly and sure enough when restart is complete it does not work. The card appears in device manager with a yellow exclamation mark. I have attempted to update the driver in device manager and I have uninstalled and reinstalled so many times that I have lost count. I have tried the card in a friends machine so I know that the card itself is not faulty. Does anyone have any ideas, anything at all that I can try. We used to use this Laptop through our wired network with no problem but now for convenience want to move to wireless. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Guys Llewitha Quote
Jamey Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Try placing the card in the other PCMCIA slot, if you have another one. Otherwise, it sounds like your laptop is too old or the network card itself is incompatible with your laptop. This sometimes happens and is just "sod's law", as they say. So I'd recommend switching it for another card and trying again. Quote
