Guest Stephen Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 I ran Belarc Advisor. Amongst the list of MS Hotfixes one (KB901190) was marked as failing verification. It said this needs to be reinstalled. How do I do this? Incidentally, shouldn't Windows Update notice if such a Hotfix isn't properly installed?

The vulnerability only affects Korean language versions of Windows XP or East Asian language versions that have the Korean IME enabled, and Korean Language Office 2003 (though if you have installed the Office 2003 proofing tools then this hotfix is still required). Windows Update can only detect if the hotfix is installed. It was verified during install. If something has since happened, Windows Update won't necessarily be able to detect that, though it would detect if the hotfix had been removed. This could also be a spurious message from Belarc. You can manually reinstall the hotfix by downloading the appropriate files from http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS06-009.mspx. -- Tom Porterfield
