You can just swap the processor out for the new one there is no need to reinstall XP. :)

Yeah the scythe ones come with a backplate and basically you have a plate that fits on the back of the MOBO and the heatsink screws then screw into that plate - they do this on heavier heatsinks so that people dont snap the MOBO while trying to fit the heatsink

As for removing the thermal paste - I use AKASA TIM CLEANER - it's basically just citrus based liquid in a bottle, you can smell the orange in it, and you just put some on a piece of an old t-shirt and wipe away :D

*Make sure that you use about a grain of rice (length and width) for the thermal compound - too much and it will spill out the sides of the heatsink onto the MOBO and it's not easy at all to get off then as you dont want to be using to much TIM on a MOBO as it's liquid based*

There is also hardly any difference between the 4800+ and the 6000+ - get the new heatsink and OC the 4800+

LOL - yeah people use toilet roll too - but I would not recommend it - it's about £4 for TIM remover and it will last you for about 30 processors.

you could try using baby wipes but the reason that you use TIM with cotton is so that you get it ALL off and leave no remnants on the CPU - remember the cleaner the face of the CPU the better the contact with the Heatsink and the less heat is generated.

If a site recommended baby wipes I would block the site from your memory....................FOREVER.

All I will say is some people botch PC's together and some build them :D
