Hi.

i have a comouter with an onboard 512 graphics card and ofboard 256 8400gs graphics card.

my other pc specs are

 

cpu: pentium D 3.2ghz dual core

Hard drive: 250gb

Ram 2gb

motherboard: Biostar 7050v-M7

19" widescreen moniter- resolution 1440x900

 

every time i try to play a game, halo, hulk or transformers it will start and then freeze. i sometimes i can press the windows key and it will minimize, other times i have to restart.

 

i dont know why this is happening because my spec is fine for the games and they are all compatable with my graphics card.

this happens when i use my onboard and offboard graphics card.

 

please help....

If memory serves in XP,

go into control panel and on the left hand side switch to classic view, there should be a BLUE BOX with a YELLOW X in it called DIRECTX double click that and then follow the instructions.

Ok - open a command window - go go start>all programs>accessories>command prompt

then a black screen will appear type in dxdiag and hit ENTER

Ok - when was the last time that you updated the graphics driver for the 8400GS?

What do you mean the RAM stopped working?

 

Right it sounds like you have a conflict - you need to DISABLE the onboard graphics from within the BIOS - have you ever done this?

everytime i ram a game or anything that would need my graphics card i kept getting an error. rundll32.exe application error.

 

when i went to properties and graphics card vga clock it showed on the core clock and memory clock 0mhz and i couldnt put it up.

 

i went to device manager and it said this device has no resources to use or something like that. it happened on the nvidia 175.19 update and the geoforce power pack drivers.

 

and no i have never disabled my onboard graphics card from my bios

Right you CANNOT have 2 forms of GPU running so onbaord should ALWAYS be disabled if you have an add in card.

 

Version:175.19Release Date:July 9, 2008

 

These are still the latest drivers for your card.

 

I would look in the BIOS and disable the onboard VGA, save and exit.

Also what process do you use to remove all the other older drivers - have you ever deleted the older ones stored in C:/Nvidia?

how do i get into the BIOS

when i install the a different nvidia driver it overwrites any drivers already installed

but i have never manually deleted the files in C:nvidia

NO - it doesn't overwrite anything -

Whenever there is a new driver available, you must go to add/remove programs there is NVIDIA DRIVERS in there - remove them - navigate to C:/Nvidia and then delete the file - then reboot

THEN install the new driver -

the problem you will be having is that you will have a numerous amount of drivers all trying to run and they are basically crashing your system.

Do as stated above and then reinstall the NVIDIA drivers you have (latest ones from previous)

depending on the motherboard - when the POST screen comes on and tells you the CPU speed and RAM installed HDD's etc (the black screen with white writing)

at the bottom of the page it will tell you how to enter but its normally the delete key.

hi

 

thanks. i did what you said and the game worked.

 

but when i uninstalled the nvidia drivers and restarted my ethernet connector's driver on my motherboard have gone and i cannot connect to the internet.(im using laptop)

 

since i cant connect to the internet where do i get the drivers form

Chances are that you have an Nforce Motherboard on your Laptop - insert the driver disk that came with the motherboard and they should be on there.

i am sorry you misunderstood me. I was talking about my computer. i meant i was using a laptop to use the internet. but i have fixed that problem.

but there is still a problem with my graphics card as we were talikng aboout before.

i can play transformers without any problems. but when i tried to play hulk or call of duty it froze and after a few seconds the games screen closed and there was an error message saying.

the nv_4 display drivers have stoppped working. please save all your work and reboot to .....(cannot remember the rest)

the screen resolution was very zoomed in. 600 and something by 880 i think.

when i try to play callof duty again it just froze and stayed frozen. when i tried hulk again i got the same error.

very confusing problem

 

hi. i couldnt think of a catogry specific for my problem so i will try posting here.

 

i have a problem. when i play a game on my pc, any game, my pc freezes. i am 100% sure that all the games i play my spec are enough for. i though there was a problem with my grapghics card. there was a problem with my drivers and i fixed that, but the games keep freezeing.

then i tried watching a movie on divx. it started and 5 seconds in it froze, but the sound kept playing on, then it worked again. then it froze. and this kept happening until i managed to open task manager and close it.

then when i opened firefox and went onto a rpg game the colours kept messing up until finally my computer froze and there was a flash of a blue screen with words on it that i didnt have time to read and it restarted it self.

i am confused at what is causing this problems and i am greatful for any help

If you have more than one stick of RAM try with only one and see how it goes.
