Hi, I have had Windows Mail set-up fine for ages now.

Its still connecting fine to my AOL account, but I get the following Error from my Yahoo account

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'Yahoo.co.uk', Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I haven't changed anything that I'm aware of recently and haven't done anything to do with my security, so am a bit at a loss.

Thanks.

Hi, that particular error message is for receiving mail, but it won't send anything through the yahoo account either.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Shrimply.

Please change your mail servers to these:

Incoming Mail Server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk

Both the servers were already as you've suggested. I am know getting a slightly different message though.

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'Yahoo.co.uk', Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Also, in case its important I tried with the firewall turned off and it made no difference.

Edit, now tried both .co.uk and .com, and get the above error

Hi Shrimply

A standard setup would use port 110 for POP3 and port 25 for SMTP

You can also try to disable e-mail scanning of your antivirus software.

You can also look here, it is for Outlook Express, but should be similar:

POP Yahoo! Mail Plus with Microsoft Outlook Express

Yes maynard, navigating the settings in Vista mail is the same as Outlook Express.

Hi, I'm not using Zone Alarm. Its working although not really sure why, I changed the ports to 110 and 25. Despite them being set for the last year at yahoos recommended 465 and 995.

Then unticked the "log on using secure authentication" box and its working. Thanks for all the help.
