Guest RBB Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 I find this Group and the individuals participating in it, very, very nice and helpfull. thank you. Now I am probably going to sound very dumb but please, bare with me. I own the computer and programs but I am a Family man who shares the computer with my Family. I am the individual who uses the computer the most. My mother, a senior citizen, very rarely uses the computer but I do try to get her to learn and use it. I have other family members across Canada and I try to get my mother to correspond; e-mail, video clips, etc. I also have a daughter who is only with me every couple of weeks,f or the week-end or hoildays. Here is my Question, "Do they have to be registered Users?" I am the Registered user/Owner of Windows XP Home Edition and Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003. I purchased that program hoping to assist my daughter in her academic education. I am of the understanding that there is three licsense with purchasing the office CD mentioned above. I ask, wondering if because of the different individuals using the computer, Am I defaulting on those "Eula" agreemnets one has to Accept when installing the programs? Thanks again for your time, patients and understanding.

No, there is one Registered user - ie you, who owns the licence to use the Software. You can set up as many users on your computer (Control Panel-User Accounts) as you like. These are purely COMPUTER Users and do not own the Licence for the software. > > I am the Registered user/Owner of Windows XP Home Edition and Microsoft > Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003. > > I purchased that program hoping to assist my daughter in her academic > education. The EULA for Office Student and Teacher edition allows you to install the software on three SEPARATE machines, all three of which (AFAIK) must be located in the same home, irrespective of the numbers of Computer users on each machine. HTH!

No, neither they, you, nor anybody else needs to be a registered user. Registration is completely optional, and is used by Microsoft only for marketing purposes. It's only activation, not registration, that is manditory. and that ties the software to the hardware, not the person. -- Ken Blake - Microsoft MVP Windows: Shell/User Please reply to the newsgroup > I am the Registered user/Owner of Windows XP Home Edition and Microsoft > Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003. > > I purchased that program hoping to assist my daughter in her academic > education.
