Guest John Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Hi all, I very new at this so please bear with me... I have a new windows server 2003, which terminal services has passed its grace period. All I want to use the server for is basic RDC. Do I need to install fully blown Terminal Server and purchase CALS ?? I believe Windows 2000 used to come with free CALS (5) Any advice would be gratefully receieved !!! THANKS

If you just want Remote Desktop for Administration, with its 3 free connections for Administrators only, then you must *uninstall* Terminal Services. Make sure that Remote Desktop for Administration is enabled after uninstalling TS. It's in Control Panel - System - Remote. If you need more than 3 connections, for normal users, then you must install Terminal Services Licensing and buy TS CALs. _________________________________________________________ Vera Noest MCSE, CCEA, Microsoft MVP - Terminal Server TS troubleshooting: http://ts.veranoest.net *----------- Please reply in newsgroup -------------* =?Utf-8?B?Sm9obg==?= <John@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote on 24 aug 2007: > Hi all, > > I very new at this so please bear with me... > I have a new windows server 2003, which terminal services has > passed its grace period.
