How you do that depends on who is hosting the system and what rights have

been established by them - what user accounts have been created. There's

no information in your post to go further.

As to using a browser, IE7 does *not* work this way, as IE6 did and as

Firefox does. You will not be able to directly log in to a

password-protected account with IE7. IIRC you take a detour through

Explorer to do this.

Alternately, use an FTP client.

my router so it has a public IP address. but how do I have poeple access it,

do you do that just through windows explorer, like your using a UNC and then

how do I setup username and password?

XP Pro does not come with FTP server software built in. You might be using

IIS to do this, which you would have installed separately, or something

else. There are many FTP servers available. You need to check the

documentation for whatever it is.

What are you using as the FTP server software? That's where the

documentation should be. Read through it thoroughly until you understand

it.

You may also want to investigate DDNS clients and free DDNS services.

These can be of *great* help.

Please take some time to review security concerns as well. You are

opening your system to the world.
