Using Win 11 my MS Media Player does not show AVI files.

I have a new lap top Win 11 with MS Media Player preinstalled.but it does not open AVI files properly just a dark green screen but I can hear the asspciated sound. My other PC Win 8.1 does open AVI correctly.I am not the most competant IT person. Thank you DC
