Im tring to add more ram to my computer, but i've been told not to add just any ram to it.

 

my specs:

 

Machine name: BURNZY-PC

Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6001) Service Pack 1

System Manufacturer: Packard Bell BV

System Model: IMEDIA 2215

BIOS: Default System BIOS

Processor: Intel® Celeron® CPU E1200 @ 1.60GHz (2 CPUs), ~1.6GHz

Memory: 766MB RAM

DirectX 10

 

Graphics:

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 7050 / NVIDIA nForce 610i

Manufacturer: NVIDIA

Chip type: GeForce 7050 / NVIDIA nForce 610i

 

Link to pc:

Desktops > iMedia > imedia 2215

 

I have two sticks of ram here, only fitting the one

 

first: HYNIX 256mb DDR 400mhz CL3

second: Vdata DDR333(2.5) 256mx8

Hello Burnzy

 

It says on that link there is a gig of memory pre-installed, how come you only have 766mb in there?

Ive already used crucial.com, i got this

 

Our System Scanner couldn't make a complete match, but we can still help you find the right memory upgrade.

 

 

Ive email them and got no reply, this is also what i got in the box below:

The missing ram is probably allocated to the video card.

...if it is, you need to go into the bios and release that memory, as you already have a 256MB card.

No it won't hurt anything. The worst that could happen is the computer won't start, in which case you just take that memory stick out.

Hi again, ive just got back in. Ive tryed the hynix ram and the prongs are not the same, the other does not match also. i'm best just buying new from pcworld.

I seen your link to Crucial.com re memory upgrade.

 

I ran the checker and bought 2 x 1 gig of memory. Really good service from these guys, good price and fast delivery.
