Why won't pdf's open in the desktop Adobe Pro app instead of 365 web version?

I have Adobe Pro Desktop, however, when I open pdf's within an email in 365, it opens them on the web platform instead of the desktop app. II do have adobe as my default pdf viewer. How do I resolve this please?
