System Restore Problem

Hi

I have XP Pro, I recently did a format and install of the OS, I have

installed all updates and have Defender and the firewall running.

Today I went to create a restore point and got this message

"System Restore was unable to create a restore point. Please restart your

computer and run System Restore again"

When I did reboot and tried again I got the same message.

I did look in the knowledge base and found a fix but only for Windows ME.

Any idea how to fix this, I do not have any Highpoint Drivers installed.

thanks

Daniel

Re: System Restore Problem

Hi Daniel,

Log onto another administrator account and try to create a restore point.

The hidden administrator account can also be used.

At the welcome screen do a Ctrl+alt+del twice.

This will bring up the "Log On to Windows" box.

Type in administrator as the User Name, leave the Password blank and press

enter.

Thanks Bert, I only have one account on this PC unless I start in safe mode.

When I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del twice at the welcomescreen I only get task manager?

Is there another way to get into the admin account?

thanks

Daniel

Yes, log into Safe Mode. The built-in administrator account should show up

there.

Re: System Restore Problem

Bert

when I log in on Safe Mode, there is no option to create a restore point,

only an option to Restore but no restore points to restore to.

thanks
