steveb Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 The cursor on my Dell Latitude has taken on a will of its own, it keeps moving to the left hand side of the screen then creeping up the left hand edge. Sometimes restarting makes it behave again and sometimes not. A colleague tells me the same fault used to happen with the company laptops, but he couldn't remember how the problem was solved. Any ideas please?
Guest Wolfeymole Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 What exact model of Latitude is it Steve?
Guest Wolfeymole Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 This issue seems like it could be one of two things Steve, have a read of these two items and consider. Dell Latitude touch pad drifting problem fixed ! - Ohad's Blog Dell Latitude C600 and C610 Broken Mouse Fix
steveb Posted August 24, 2008 Author Posted August 24, 2008 Thanks Wolfeymole, I'll give the pointer stick some scissors treatment tomorrow - cut and hope!!
Guest Wolfeymole Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 I know its seems drastic Steve but I looked around on this. Laptops are a good idea but so many things can go wrong with them in that department, I had an old Toshiba that had a Joy Stick mouse mover and it was a pain in the arse.
steveb Posted August 24, 2008 Author Posted August 24, 2008 I've just found this thread, it gives step by step. Fingers crossed!
Dalo Harkin Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 This is common on normal mice too - but its normally just dirt causing it :) Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
Guest Wolfeymole Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 I considered posting that site too Steve.
steveb Posted August 25, 2008 Author Posted August 25, 2008 Thanks for your help Wolfeymole. I've done it!! I cut the tape to the pointer stick and problem solved. The first time I've ever attempted to touch even a screw on a PC and it's been a success - 100% record so far. It took me all of 5 minutes too.
Guest Wolfeymole Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Hey that's great to hear Steve, well done mate. :)
