Guest Abay Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Hello, I created a windows toolbar and want to give a name to each item on the tool bar, but can't see where to change the default url name (when it is an internet short cut) .. e.g. I made a short cut for the NY times and want it to show NY times when I move the mouse pointer over its icon (I currently see its url) . I can "name" icons for programs which reside on my pc, but not for Internet links. Is there a way to do what I want? Any help would be much appreciated. Abay

Guest Abay Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Re: Windows toolbar Many thanks for your reply .. still cannot get it to work the way I want .. when I make a shortcut to a url (I also use firefox) and paste it onto the toolbar I don't get the tab for Shortcuts .. just get "General" and "Web document" tabs. there is a box where you can put a name on the "General" tab, but it does not appear when you move the mouse pointer over the icon .. I am probably doing something really stupid, but cannot see what it is .. just call me confused Abay "Elmo" <elmogeek@iglou.invalid> wrote in message news:%23elSqW35HHA.5980@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > Abay wrote: >> Hello, >> >> I created a windows toolbar and want to give a name to each item on the >> tool bar, but can't see where to change the default url name (when it is >> an internet short cut) .. e.g. I made a short cut for the NY times and >> want it to show NY times when I move the mouse pointer over its icon (I >> currently see its url) . Then edit the shortcut, add a space and the URL afterwards, like I mentioned above. These shortcuts to Firefox should open Firefox, then go to the url you added to its Target line. > "Elmo" <elmogeek@iglou.invalid> wrote in message > news:%23elSqW35HHA.5980@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... >> Abay wrote: >>> Hello, >>> >>> I created a windows toolbar and want to give a name to each item on the >>> tool bar, but can't see where to change the default url name (when it is >>> an internet short cut) .. e.g. I made a short cut for the NY times and >>> want it to show NY times when I move the mouse pointer over its icon (I >>> currently see its url) .
