Are you asking for help, or merely keeping us abreast of your situation? If the former, you might think about providing more info.

You obviously do NOT qualify. You don't even know how to ask a question for help.
Guest abnewallo Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Re: Unable to install Windows Media Player 11 Well caver1, I ran the update again and the process went through without any errors. It returned with the regular prompt that 'Installation Complete. You may Restart our computer for updates to take effect'. But when I retart and then run windows update again, the 'Media Player 11' is still listed amongst the updates. Guest Paul Russell Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Re: Unable to install Windows Media Player 11 abnewallo grumpy was indicating you need to provide more than "it didn't install" ... for example, the package was downloaded and then failed with error "X" etc. You will find posting with adequate information will go alot further than the thread your having w/ UG "abnewallo" <abnewallo@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:FFBAE9A1-765B-4FDE-8789-F3DD410ED30D@microsoft.com... > If you understand your limitations then maybe you should leave this one > alone > and let someone with competence respond. > > "Uncle Grumpy" wrote: > >> abnewallo <abnewallo@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: >> >> >If you are able to assist it would be appreciated. >> >> With what little info you provided, I doubt that anyone will be able >> to help you. >>
Guest abnewallo Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Re: Unable to install Windows Media Player 11 Paul Russell, There are no error messages or any prompt that indicates anything being wrong. The update downloads and installs seemingly okay from the windows update site but when you restart per their request and you go back to windows update the Media Player is still listed amongst the items to me downloaded. Guest abnewallo Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Re: Unable to install Windows Media Player 11 caver1, Thanks for the assitance. I found something on-line about re-naming the 'spupdsvc.exe' file between updates and this has worked. I have since updated the Windoiws media 11 and Internet Explorer 7, and all seems to be well now. Do you know if the 'spupdsvc.exe' file is linked to some other menace? andrew "caver1" wrote: > abnewallo wrote: > > Paul Russell, > > > > There are no error messages or any prompt that indicates anything being > > wrong.
