I don't know what help that would be. >Also, when I right click on any of my programs the little window opens as it should. It only happens when I click on programs in my program file. I assume the "little window" refers to the menu showing, Open, Run as, etc. When you say "my programs" are you referring to EXE files or shortcuts to EXE files? Each will show different options in the menu. When you say "program file" do mean the "C:\Program Files" folder? Based on your description of the problem, you are saying that the right-click menu shows correctly everywhere except within the C:\Program Files folder. Is that correct? BTW, I'm assuming that you're using Windows Explorer for this excercise. Guest David Webb Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Re: Sendto Now I understand what you are talking about, but I'm not sure that you really have a problem. Each entry in the Program listing can be made up of Folders, Subfolders, and shortcuts to various applications or simply shortcuts, as noted at the bottom of the listing. You have to navigate down to the application level in order to see the menu in question. If it happens to an EXE file, the correct menu will appear on a right-click. Folders and Subfolders will not display that same menu since they are not executable in themselves. Applications that are not EXE files will display a menu that is appropriate for them. In other words, I think what you're seeing in the Program listing is quite normal. Here's a sample to try: Click on Programs > Accessories > System, then right click on Backup. You should now see the menu you're looking for. Hope this helps. Guest David Webb Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Re: Sendto You appear to have a registry problem related to Context Menu Handlers. Sorry but I have no experience in this area. I suggest this approach: 1. Use the Windows XP's System Restore feature to revert back to a time just before you noticed the problem. Be sure to take a snapshot of your current state so that you can get back to it, if required. Here's a tech article on the feature: How to restore the operating system to a previous state in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084 More can be found in Windows Help & Support. 2. If still no joy from a System Restore, start a new thread in this newsgroup, using Context Menu Handlers as a subject, and describe the problem you're having with the Program list items. Hopefully a real expert in this area will come up with an easy fix for you. Just for your information, here's a link to web page which describes the complexity of this subject: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm Good luck!
