XP Pro taskbar hight problem

I have two installations of XP Pro, both at SP2:-

1. Laptop 1024x768 LCD screen. Upgraded from Win2K.

2. Tower system 1024x768 LCD screen. Virgin install.

On the laptop the taskbar is perfect and about 32 pixels high. Time only

shown in corner. Icons are perfect.

On the tower system the taskbar is much higher, around 40 pixels. Time and

day of week are shown in corner. The icons look very chunky.

Both taskbars appear to be set at minimum hight.

Any ideas what could be the cause of the difference?

Thanks

Richard

Start the Accessibility Wizard (Start Menu > All Programs >

Accessories > Accessibility) and check that the text size is set to

"Use Usual Text Size For Windows".

Interesting. I went to accessibility and set high contrast on (apply) then

set it off (apply). The taskbar is now perfect and icons no longer chunky!

It must have forced some form of reset to defaults.

Since the height of the Taskbar allows room for the date, the font size

is probably normal. When you look at the Taskbar, are there two rows,

one for running tasks, one for the QuickLaunch toolbar, or another

toolbar? If so, right-click the Taskbar, click Toolbars, and deselect

any Toolbar. Resize, the Taskbar, lock it, then add the Toolbar, if you

prefer it be there. That should place them side-by-side without raising

the height of the Taskbar.
