How do I download a software when my computer thinks its already downloaded?

I've been attempting to download a software onto my computer. I had previously downloaded it onto an external hard drive, which unfortunately became corrupted. Now, I'm trying to install the software on my C drive in the hopes of getting it to run. However, every time I attempt to do this, I encounter an error message that indicates the presence of an invalid D drive (referring to the corrupted external drive) that is no longer connected to my computer. How can I go about resolving this issue?
