Guest Jeff Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Hey I'm using an winXP Professional (sp2 installed) computer which is connected to internet, hence it has an IP address. But how do I add more IP addresses to this computer ?? so I end up having for example 4 IP addresses on this computer, while having only one network card Jeff

Guest Jeff Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Re: multiple IP addresses I want to test a datasystem... learn how to configure it etc... and this datasystem needs atleast 2 ip addresses... if it is not possible i'll wait until I can do it on a windows server 2003 server instead.... eventually this datasystem will be deployed to a windows server 2003...
Guest Jeff Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 <solved> multiple IP addresses <solved> multiple IP addresses This is somewhat solved, I didn't figure out how to apply multiple IP addresses to my winXP machine. But instead I try to configure this on a win2k3 computer....

Most PC/servers already have two IP addresses set up per network adapter. The first is the network IP address assigned to the network adapter and the second is always 127.0.0.1 (localhost.)

Learn to search. ;-) Search using Google! http://www.google.com/ (How-to: http://www.google.com/intl/en/help/basics.html ) Searching for: how to add multiple IPs to a single network card in Windows XP Gives: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=how+to+add+multiple+IPs+to+a+single+network+card+in+Windows+XP It boils down to clicking "add" under the advanced settings (TCP/IP) IP address section of the given network interface... Although - I'd think you would be much better off theese days utilizing virtual machines to learn what it is you are likely trying to learn. -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
