Hi

I have two questions :

1) If i want to run a command like gpupdate.exe /force on my workstations (a

lot of them). What is the quickest way to do it? Can it be done through a

GPO or MUST (i don't know scripts) i use a script?

2) If i implement a GPO without using the gpupdate.exe /force on the

workstations how long does it take for the settings to take effect by

themselve?

Thanks

Craig

Download and Install Specops GPUpdate

90 Minutes or logoff/logon (restart)

FORCE is only nessesary if you want to REDEPLOY an applied GPO. It is not

a "force" to take it for the first time or because of a change.

A GPO will always be applied if it is new, or if it has changed.

(see gpt.ini -> Version=, or GPM Version information)

Force is only necessary to apply a GPO, that is active, but you want

to reapply it even it does not have changed.

Under normal conditions, eg you create a new or change a existing one,

"gpupdate" without any paramters will do its job.

1. Reboot the computer instead :-) What is the idea about creating a GPO

that runs a command to update the GPO's?

2. Settings are refreshed every 16 hours maximum but some settings needs you

to restart the computer or logoff before they are applied. Even when you run

gpupdate /force you may see in the window that it asks you to logoff before

some settings are applied.
