I have a Windows 2003 system that when I open the Local Users & Groups mmc

(lusrmgr.msc or through Computer manage) it does not display and users, but

I can do a net user or look in the groups and see the users, I just get a

blank window when I click on User in the mmc, has anyone come across this

before.

TIA,

Bob Smith

Is this a domain controller? do you have full local admin rights? what has changed? and what lead you to find this?

Re: Broken Local Users & Groups

Hi Kevinm,

The system is a standard 2003 web server, yes I am a domain admin with full admin rights on the server, it's hard to determine what has changed since the user reported it, this system is patched regularly and recently had an app upgrade, it just see to be with that mmc, since I can view the users with other methods.

Thanks for the reply,

Bob

Re: Broken Local Users & Groups

This problem was resolved, the issue was caused we believed by a restore,

the problem ended up being a corrupt Sam registry entries, after given the

admin access to the Sam registry, we found two admin accounts, by cleaning

this up this resolved the issue.
